Heat Continue Draft Prep With Prospect Workouts

The Heat are working out multiple prospects ahead of next months's draft

The Miami Heat have the tenth pick in next month's NBA draft and are holding workouts with potential picks at American Airlines Arena.

Not only is Miami trying to find the right fit for their first round pick, but they are actively doing their homework on their second round selection. While much of the focus is put on the first round pick for each team, there can be true value found in the next round as well.

One of the names that reportedly worked out for Miami on Wednesday was Sam Dekker. The forward is coming out of Wisconsin and is considered a lock to go in the first round. The question remains if Miami would be taking him a little early at the tenth spot.

These workouts with prospects are not announced officially by the Heat and the players names are withheld. However, another player is known to have attended the workout sessions. Brett Comer who is out of Florida Golf Coast University posted a photo on his personal Instagram account. In the photo, Comer is seen in a Heat practice jersey.

Comer also told reporters that both Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Rashad Vaughn were part of the workouts. Hollis-Jefferson was with Arizona while Vaughn came out of UNLV.

Even if the players in the workouts do not end up selected by Miami, working out them out has other perks. In some cases, these players could go undrafted and be candidates for the D-League. The Heat were able to find a gem in the development area last season when Hassan Whiteside opened eyes with his play.

The NBA draft will take place on June 25th from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
