The Miami Heat had two good chances to win Tuesday's game but ultimately fell to the Detroit Pistons by a final of 93-92.
With the clock ticking down and behind by one point, Dwyane Wade had a good look with his shot attempt. The ball would miss its target however forcing the Heat to foul Detroit. After two missed free throws and a rebound, Miami once again had a chance to win. Down by one with roughly a second to go, Chris Bosh had a wide open look that missed.
The loss stings for Miami even more than it normally would because of its early lead. After one quarter of play, the Heat had a 16-point lead. Detroit would actually take the lead into the half after posting a 36-point second quarter. From there, the second half was a well contested battle between the teams.
The loss was only the second for the Heat in their last six games and dropped them to 16-11 on the year.
Hassan Whiteside had another solid game defensively and offensively. The center had 16 points and 16 rebounds along with four blocks. Whiteside scored a big basket in the final minutes after making a stop on the other end. At the time, it looked like the effort could help give Miami the victory.
Bosh and Wade combined to go 17-42 with Bosh having a tough day from deep range. Bosh was 2-7 on his three-point tries. As a team, Miami only made four of 18 attempts from downtown.
Miami's next game will come on Christmas Day when the Heat host the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday at 12 p.m.
