Marlins Take Series in Atlanta

The Marlins won their first series of the year with a 6-2 win over the Braves on Wednesday

The Miami Marlins put together consecutive wins for the first time this season with their 6-2 win over the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday.

The win gave Miami a series victory over Atlanta and improved its overall record 3-6 on the season. The Marlins dug themselves a bit of an early season hole, but have looked a lot better in the last two games.

Excellent starting pitching has been a trend for Miami all season long but until yesterday, there was an obvious lack of offense. In Tuesday's win, the Marlins scored eight runs and in this one, the team knocked two balls out of the park.

Dan Haren was solid again following up on a good debut. Haren was in line for a win last week before a bullpen implosion took place. This time around, Haren was able to come away with his first victory in a Marlins uniform. The veteran turned in seven innings of two-run ball and now has a 2.08 E.R.A this season.

Adeiny Hechavarria had his biggest game of the year and it came on his birthday. The shortstop went 3-3 with three runs batted in. Hechavarria also homered for the first time this year and was serenaded by his teammates in the dugout on his way back.

Mike Morse also hit a home run in the win, it was the first for in a Miami uniform and also the 100th of his big league career. Morse has gotten off to a solid start in the middle of Miami's everyday lineup.

The Marlins will open a four-game series against the New York Mets on Thursday at Citi Field.
