11/16: Monday's Ready for Its Closeup

Film celebrating rock, religion and racing hearts

SCREEN JAMS: We haven't been this excited about a rockumentary about an aging metal band since "Spinal Tap." "Anvil! The Story of Anvil" promises to turn your laugh knob up to 11 tonight, while the cupcakes and hot chocolate will turn your yum knob up to, like, 375 degrees. Sweat Records, 8 p.m.

SILVER SCREEN JEWS: Ever wonder what it's like to be Jewish in France? Director Yves Jeuland has, and his documentary, "Being Jewish in France," which spotlights the first country to grant Jews citizenship, screens tonight as part of the Judaica on Film series. Miami Beach Cinematheque, 7 p.m.

PULSE POINTS: Do you enjoy the sensation of your heart leaping out of your chest? White knuckles? Long walks on the beach that end with a giant tsunami coming right at you? Then you'll enjoy tonight's offering from the Short Film Festival, titled Pulse-Pounding Cinema, which will feature films that "set your heart pounding... in rage, in fear, in excitement." Cosford Cinema, 8 p.m.
