Overnight Repairs Needed For Pipeline

A sewer pipeline rupture on Taft Street in Hollywood requires overnight repair.

Additional overnight repairs are needed for the ruptured sewer pipeline on Taft Street, according to the City of Hollywood.

Repairs to the ruptured pipeline were almost complete when workers detected an additional small leak. This leak will be prepared starting at 9 p.m. tonight into the Sunday morning hours.

The city has been working with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) regarding the pipeline rupture and repairs. Cleanup of the areas affected by the rupture is underway.

City crews are also working to clean and aerate the canals. The City of Hollywood is advising people to avoid contact with untreated sewage or sewage residue. Those with pets should not allow them out where there's sewage residue. There is also a "No Fishing/ No Swimming/ No Wading" advisory still in effect for the canals.

Taft Street between North 32nd Court and the access road to the Yellow Green Farmer's Market will remain closed to traffic. The Farmer's Market, however, will be open for business.

NBC Miami will continue to bring updates should the information become available.
