Early sunshine will give way to afternoon clouds and storms Thursday in South Florida.

Like Wednesday, storms will unfold after the lunch hour and carry through the afternoon. While only isolated in nature today, storms will increase in their coverage for Friday and Saturday.  Highs will still climb into the lower 90s throughout the period.

In the tropics, Tropical Depression #5 is still trying to get organized as it moves swiftly towards the Windward Islands. The future of this system is uncertain at this time, but if it does strengthen, it will take on the name “Ernesto.”

The forecast track of the storm carries it to the Eastern Caribbean Sea this weekend but remains well south of Florida at this time.
