Photos: Heat Wave Scorches East, Mid-West

Temperatures are rising across the East and Midwest, and people everywhere are looking for ways to keep cool. The heat index in many states made it feel as if the temperature had surpassed 100 degrees. Damian Estrella, 2, splashed in a kiddy pool outside his apartment complex to keep cool as weather reached the 90-degree mark in Newark, N.J.
