3 Hospitalized After Fire Breaks Out in Plantation Nursing Home

Three people were taken to the hospital after a fire broke out inside of a Plantation nursing home.

Officials say the blaze started around 11 p.m. at the West Broward Care Center off West Broward Boulevard in one of the patient’s rooms – where the man inside was smoking according to staff from the facility.

Two people from that room were taken to the hospital, including one with burns that required them to be sent to a local trauma center, while a nurse was also hospitalized after suffering from smoke inhalation.

Around 150 people were inside the home at the time – with 110 being patients – and were brought back inside once the fire was put out. Officials say the facility did not lose power during the incident.
