8/5: And the Tree Was Happy

Shell out for art-starved kids, get classy for happy hour or just try to hook up

MAKE LIKE A TREE: But don't leave without donating $5 (or more) to go toward purchasing art supplies for art teacher Paul Gaeta, whose supply budget is a big fat nothing. The Giving Tree is the name of this event, which is being put on by Sweat Records and Circuitree Records at The Vagabond. Of course, there will be art, bands and DJs galore. 9:30 P.M.

POUR PEOPLE: So many rooftop pools/lounges, so little time. Surely there's room for one more in your mix, and it should be Club 50 at the Viceroy. Every Wednesday guests get unlimited flights of wine - and a lesson on what they're sipping - and cheese from resto Eos for $20. Tastings start at 6 P.M., then stay for live music: bossa nova twists on punk rock and new wave hits.

NEED FOR SPEED: There was the one who checked his Blackberry every 10 minutes. The one with the hyena laugh. And the one rocking the non-ironic 'stache. Sometimes a 5-minute date is all you can handle, and Date and Dash knows this. Join them tonight for speed dating at Purdy Lounge. RSVP is required, and you can do it here. 8 P.M.
