Sunday Talk Show Tip Sheet

With the nation’s governors in Washington for their annual winter conference, this Sunday’s talk shows host several of the Republicans squabbling over whether to accept any of the $787 billion in economic stimulus funds just signed into law by President Barack Obama.

After squaring off over the stimulus all week, potential Republican presidential primary rivals Govs. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and Charlie Crist of Florida will have it out on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

“Fox News Sunday” also lands Republican governors on opposing sides of the stimulus debate, with Mark Sanford of South Carolina and Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota.

In addition, Fox gets Democratic Govs. Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania and Jennifer Granholm of Michigan. And CBS’s “Face the Nation” hosts Pawlenty and another Republican governor, Mitch Daniels of Indiana, along with Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine of New Jersey and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan.

Meanwhile, emerging from an exhausting budget battle, Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of California sits down with host George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s “This Week” to offer his take on the nation’s dire economic straits and reflect on his state’s nearly paralyzing budget crisis.

Schwarzenegger also stops by CNN’s “State of the Union,” which also has snagged Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Republican Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi and HUD’s Donovan.

Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) will weigh in on the president’s recently announced mortgage relief plan on Bloomberg’s “Political Capital” with Al Hunt.

And, finally, C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers” lands Education Secretary Arne Duncan, who’ll be questioned by Libby Quaid of The Associated Press and Michele McNeil of Education Week.
