Welcome to Scarborough Country

"Morning Joe" comes to Miami

There aren’t many conservatives that would find their slot next to the brash, liberal likes of Keith Olberman or the surly, fem-friendly commentary of Rachel Maddow, but Joe Scarborough does so daily on MSNBC.

Scarborough’s place on “Morning Joe” perhaps actually serves to indicate a “fair and balanced” perspective on a U.S. media network. This Pensacola boy is a former House Rep. from Florida; that’s right, our home state! He has demonstrated his aggressive debate style and conversational appeal with some amazing guests, including Doris Kearns Goodwin, Paul Krugman, Jimmy Fallon and Pat Buchanan.

His feud with Jon Stewart is not exactly what legends are made of, but it did make a lot of laughs. Even Oprah watches his show every morning.

Just like Maddow made looking like a really smart, cute dude cool for ladies, Scarborough is trying to change the face of conservatism. He’s in town tonight promoting his book The Last Best Hope: Restoring Conservatism and America’s Promise. Scarborough argues ways to bring conservatism into this century, sounds like a contradiction of sorts? Possibly.

In the book, he sticks it to the Republican Party bosses, disses Democrats, and then offers a road map for a better nation. Well, a map that best suits his perspective. A suggestion, if you will. Trying to get the right wing back to its roots -- good luck, Joe.

The hoopla will takes place at 7:30 p.m. at Temple Judea. Purchasing the book at Books and Books will get you 2 priority seating tickets.
