2 South Florida Banks Robbed Within 1 Hour of Each Other: FBI

The FBI is investigating two separate bank robberies in South Florida Wednesday afternoon.

The first robbery happened around 12:53 p.m. at the Citibank branch at 2750 Aventura Boulevard in Aventura, when a suspect entered and demanded money from an employee, FBI officials said.

Less than an hour later, around 1:45 p.m., the Amtrust Bank at 5461 Sheridan Street in Hollywood was robbed, officials said. The FBI hasn't said whether the robberies may be related.

Customers were in both banks at the time of the robberies, but no injuries were reported. The amount of money taken wasn't released.

FBI officials believe the suspect in the Citibank robbery was involved in the robbery of a BB&T Bank at 2434 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood on Tuesday.

The FBI released surveillance photos of the suspects, and are asking anyone with information to call them at 754-703-2000.
