A/C Ad Wars Heat Up Again

Clever ads continue to be a hot issue for air conditioning companies

First, the fight was over your wife's hotness.

Now a judge will determine if it's OK for her to be cool around the clock or all year.

In what's likely the silliest ad war since the battle between Coke and Coke Zero, three South Florida air conditioning repair companies are headed to court over who is truly a 24/7, 365 operation.

Air Around the Clock and All Year Cooling have filed a lawsuit against Aztil, Inc. over a recent newspaper ad the West Palm Beach company began running this month.

The ad in question reads, "When it's Sizzling Hot Aztil's Service is All Year Long & Around The Clock." The lawsuit claims Aztil is trying to piggy back off the success of the other two, better known South Florida companies.

Considering the heat in South Florida, fixing ACs is big business. But at some point cooler heads have to prevail.

Just a few months ago, Air Around the Clock, based in Coral Springs, and Fort Lauderdale company All Year Cooling were fighting with each other over billboard ads, but since that has been settled, they figured they might as well stir up the heat on a competitor.

"We have certainly seen a fall off in business," Howard Citron, All Year Cooling's attorney, told the Sun-Sentinel about the recent ad controversy.
