Coast Guard Suspends Search For Small Plane Off Florida

The U.S. Coast Guard says it has suspended a search for a downed small plane that disappeared with two people aboard about two dozen miles east of Florida.

The Coast Guard said Sunday that it had conducted aerial and maritime searches for 32 hours.

Other searches were being conducted by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

The single engine plane took off from Palm Beach County Park Airport on Friday.

The search for the Piper Saratoga aircraft began after the Federal Aviation Administration received notification that it had gone down 23 miles east of Palm Beach, Florida.

The aircraft is registered to Simmons Pet Properties. State business records show the company is managed by veterinarian Kenneth Simmons and his wife, Alice.
