U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Miami International Airport seized $2,000 in counterfeit currency arriving in a package from Trinidad and Tobago on Sept. 16.
Officers selected the package for examination and discovered that a set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle coloring sheets felt unusually heavy. Upon further examination, they found currency between two glued coloring sheets.
Officers observed the bills were of poor quality and closer scrutiny questioned their validity. The U.S. Secret Service was notified and determined the bills to be counterfeit.
CBP seized the counterfeit currency and turned it over to the U.S. Secret Service for further investigation.
