A Florida man found himself behind bars after allegedly sitting down inside a classroom with a pocket knife and told deputies he did so to ‘test security’.

Derek Marlowe was arrested for the incident at Spruce Creek High School in Port Orange on Friday, with the 51-year-old being charged with several crimes that included trespassing.

According to NBC affiliate WESH-TV, an intoxicated Marlowe road his bicycle to the school and walked on campus unchallenged by anyone before walking into a classroom and sitting down.

The teacher activated an emergency button in the classroom and security was sent in to place Marlowe, who Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies say has an extensive criminal record, under arrest.

School district officials say the school was not placed on lockdown and no code red calls were made – admitting that at least some protocols for security were not followed properly.
