Four-Year-Old Witnesses Fatal Robbery in West Park Warehouse

Intended victim opened fire, but was fatally wounded by would-be robber

A man visiting a warehouse in West Park Friday evening with his four-year-old child in tow was pistol-whipped when two men entered the building and demanded money.

A second man inside the warehouse on SW 25th Street was killed after he pulled out his own gun and fired at the would-be robbers. He was hit in the ensuing firefight, and died of his wounds at Memorial Regional Hospital.

The child was not physically harmed; his father was treated for lacerations from the butt of the assailant's gun.

The Broward Sheriff's Office is searching for the presumed accomplice, who fled the building shortly after gunfire erupted.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS (8477).
