A horse was euthanized and several others were returned to their farm in Southwest Miami-Dade after escaping early Sunday morning and being struck by a car.
Officials from the First Baptist Church of Westwood Lake, which owns the horses, say they escaped from their farm and one was struck near the intersection of Southwest 117th Avenue and 66th Street. The person in charge of the horses said that animal, a former race horse named Beethoven, was later euthanized due to their injuries.
No one was injured in the crash and the other nine horses were returned to their home by handlers from the church and Miami-Dade Police officers.
The church pastor did not want to speak on camera, but did release a statement saying they were "saddened" by the incident.
