15-Year-Old Rushed to the Hospital After Being Shot in Miami

A South Florida teen was rushed to the hospital after he was shot in Miami Sunday afternoon, officials said.

The incident happened at the 1400 block of Northwest 70th Street. Crime scene detectives could be seen collecting evidence like bullet casings and speaking with neighbors.

Miami Police said they received a ShotSpotter alert around 1:30 p.m. ShotSpotter is a gunshot detection system that alerts police to the location of gunfire. 

Once police arrived on the scene, they found a teenager with a gunshot wound. The 15-year-old victim was rushed to Ryder Trauma Center, where they were in stable condition. The teenager's identity has not yet been released. 

Miami-Dade Superintendent Alberto Carvalho tweeted a message, reading in part, "No age group is spared the scourge of gun violence. A 15-year-old shot in the legs is stable, thankfully."
