A western Massachusetts man charged with creating child pornography who allegedly cut off his court-ordered GPS and fled has been captured in Florida despite vowing not to be taken alive.
Greenfield police say 24-year-old city resident Derek Lecompte was caught without incident at a Miami bus station on Tuesday night.
Lecompte was free on bail with a GPS ankle bracelet while awaiting trial on charges of taking nude photos of a young child.
Police say Lecompte had threatened to commit ``suicide by cop'' if found and there were concerns that he was armed, although it was unclear if he had a weapon at the time of his arrest.
It was not clear when Lecompte would be returned to Massachusetts.
