Mayors of Miami-Dade, San Antonio Make NBA Finals Bet

Tex-Mex and stone crabs are on the line

As the Miami Heat prepare for their NBA Finals showdown with the San Antonio Spurs, Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez has something besides pride riding on the outcome.

He said on the eve of the Finals that he’s made a “friendly wager” with Julian Castro, the mayor of San Antonio.

“Mayor Castro and the Spurs are doing great things for the City of San Antonio, but I know our Miami Heat will get the job done and provide the opportunity to enjoy some awesome Tex-Mex from Mi Tierra Café Y Panadería,” Gimenez said in a statement. “And if things don’t happen to go our way, we’ll send our friends out west some mouthwatering stone crabs from world-famous Joe’s Stone Crab.”
