Miami Tourney Slashes Prices in Tiger's Absence

Doral tix cut in half as Woods deals with sex scandal

In what may be a sign of things to come as long as Tiger Woods stays on the PGA sidelines, a popular travel Website is offering half-off deals for the upcoming CA Championship at Doral Golf Resort in Miami.

The event generally draws the biggest names in golf, but with Tiger focusing on his family instead of the links as he deals with the fallout from his sex scandal, sites like travelzoo.com are reporting a 50 percent slash in ticket prices.

Daily passes for the Tuesday and Wednesday practice rounds have been dropped from $30 to $15, and passes for the actual tournament have gone from $40 per day to just $20.

Over 100,000 spectators showed up for the event last year, in which Woods, coming off reconstructive knee surgery, finished far down the leaderboard, tied for 9th place.

Woods is reportedly back in Florida working on his game, after a week of counseling in Arizona.

This year's tournament, which will be held from March 9-14, has the world's best golfers competing for a $8.5 million purse. Last year's champion, Phil Mickelson, is expected to defend his title again this year.
