North America's Largest Traveling Ferris Wheel Coming to South Florida Fair

The massive traveling thrill ride reaches so high in the sky, that it required approval by the Federal Aviation Administration

The "ride of a lifetime" is making its way to South Florida for the first time ever.

The Midway Sky Eye, coined North America’s largest Ferris wheel, will debut at the South Florida Fair in West Palm Beach next week.

The giant wheel stands 155 feet high and weighs more than 400,000 pounds. The massive thrill ride reaches so high, that it required approval by the Federal Aviation Administration before being constructed at the fair site.

The attraction will illuminate the sky above the fairgrounds with more than 524,000 rainbow-colored LED lights as 36 gondolas circle the ride.

From twirling, high-flying swings to a terrifying zombie apocalypse, more than 200 rides, games and attractions will be featured for thrill-seekers of all ages to enjoy.

The fair runs Jan. 12-28 at the South Florida Fairgrounds located at 9067 Southern Blvd. in West Palm Beach.
