Sayyid Khan Gets 40 Years for Attempted Rape and Kidnapping

Sayyid Khan, 22, will spend the next 40 years in prison for kidnapping and attempting to sexually assault a woman. Khan received his sentence Thursday night in a Broward County court.

Khan told police that he got a large knife, replica handgun, duct tape, gloves and dressed in dark clothes, and found a woman driving on Pines Boulevard, police said. Khan followed the woman to her house and tailgated her into the gated community.

Police said he watched the woman get out of her car, approached her at gunpoint and forced her into a vehicle, authorities said. The woman’s brother heard her screaming for help and called police, who sent out an advisory for the car.

Khan took the woman to Davie, where he ordered her to get into the back seat of the car. He cut pieces of tape, ordered the woman to place the tape over her eyes and attempted to sexually assault her, the report said.

The woman opened the rear passenger door and ripped off the tape, but Khan hit the woman with the handgun, according to police. The woman punched him in the groin and she was able to take the gun. She tried shooting but the gun did not fire.

Khan fled the scene and hid in a nearby landscaping, but the woman, who was still in possession of her cellphone, called 911.
