Sentencing is set again for a man convicted in South Florida of supporting terrorism, a case in which an FBI employee posed online as a terror financing middleman.
Gufran Mohammed faces a maximum of 15 years in prison at a sentencing hearing Wednesday in Miami. Mohammed pleaded guilty in July to conspiring to support terrorist groups, but his sentencing has been delayed several times.
Mohammed, a naturalized U.S. citizen originally from India, is seeking a lesser sentence of about eight years.
He admitted providing about $30,000 to the al-Shabaab group in Somalia and al-Qaida in Iraq. Some of that money went instead to the FBI covert online employee.
Co-defendant Mohamed Said of Kenya has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting a May trial in Miami federal court.
