A Southwest Ranches man is facing multiple charges of possession of child pornography after posting pornographic images of children on Twitter, police said.
Bruce Muehlfelder, 62, was arrested Thursday by the Davie Police special response team, detectives and members of the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Davie Police said.
Muehlfelder was booked into the Broward main jail. No attorney information was immediately available.
According to police, they received tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that the images were being posted on Twitter between August 2015 and April 2016.
When a search warrant was executed at Muehlfelder's home on Southwest 61st Street, numerous boxes of evidence containing hundreds of printed images, CDs, computers and thumb drives were collected, police said. One of the thumb drives was marked "Pre-teen," police said.
Authorities also found boxes of children's clothing, including children's undergarments, despite there being no children in the house and Muehlfelder has no children, officials said.
Police said a lot of the evidence was found in an office in the home, and Muehlfelder's wife told detectives she never went in the office.
At the home Thursday, Muehlfelder's wife declined to speak with reporters.
"One of the detectives described it to me, a closet floor to ceiling filled with boxes and boxes of child pornography. They even found some of the child pornography framed in what you'd put a nice family photo in in the office also," Davie Police Sgt. Mark Leone said. "The arrestee was distributing this child pornography over numerous Twitter accounts, once it was realized that there was child pornography going over the Twitter accounts, Twitter alerted law enforcement and those twitter accounts have been shut down."
Police said the investigation is ongoing and it's unknown if there are any known victims. Anyone with information is asked to call Davie Police at 954-693-8200.
