‘Stand Your Ground' Hearing Granted in Miami Cop Murder Case

The girlfriend charged in the murder of her Miami police officer boyfriend has been granted a "Stand Your Ground" hearing.

Tiniko Thompson appeared in court Thursday where a judge granted her request for the hearing. It's expected to take place in March.

Thompson is accused of shooting and killing Miami Police Officer Carl Patrick in May. She's facing second-degree murder charges and is being held without bond.

Thompson claimed Patrick was constantly abusive to her and was so on the morning the gun went off at their Broward home. She said the shooting was an accident.
