U.S. Women's Gymnastics Team Inspires Young Miami Athletes

As the U.S. women's gymnastics team competed in the team all around final Tuesday, a younger generation of South Florida athletes were watching their every flip with adoration.

From Rio to Gymnastic Wizards in southwest Miami-Dade, it's all about girl power. With Team USA dominating the gymnastic competition at the Summer Olympics, they're setting the bar high for young gymnasts in Miami.

"I am inspired by them, I want to go to the Olympics," 11-year-old Giselle Martinez said.

With every flip, twist and dismount, the pint-sized acrobats at Gymnastic Wizards can't get enough of the U.S. team.

"I'm really rooting for Simone Biles because she's like a really good and also Aly Raisman because they're like the bomb dot com," Martinez said.

"It's an inspiration to watch but not just to go to the Olympics, like all the women are really powerful and they've gotten a long way to get to where they are," 13-year-old Tovie Wooly-Larrea said.

"I like, get confidence because if they can do it, I think I can do it," 10-year-old Emily Herrera said.

The young Miami girls devote a lot of time and commitment to the sport.

"It's six hours a day and we do each event for at least 40 minutes and you really...everyone here really has to be here because they really want to do this," Wooly-Larrea said.

With a balance of dedication and passion the young girls have some big dreams of also going for gold one day.
