Day of Smiles: Baptist Children's Hospital Offering Free Facial Corrective Surgery

For the 15th year, Baptist Children’s Hospital will host Day of Smiles, offering free facial corrective surgery for children in need

Children's corrective facial surgery for conditions like cleft lip, burns and port wine birthmarks can run into the tens of thousands, leaving many families unable to provide these life-changing procedures for their children.

Baptist Children's Hospital wants to help, and to do so, they'll be hosting a Day of Smiles, offering free corrective facial and other medically necessary reconstructive procedures for families in need.

Procedures to correct conditions from cleft palate to scars, tumors and congenital hand problems will be performed on Saturday, June 11 for a select number of children and teens whose families cannot afford them.

The hospital will offer medical screenings to determine patient's eligibility on Saturday, May 21 from 8 a.m. through 12 p.m. In addition, a detailed financial screening must take place prior to the medical screening.

To be eligible, children and their families must meet certain surgical and financial criteria, must be 18 year old or younger and must live in Miami-Dade, Broward or Monroe County.

Screenings will take place in the pre-surgery area located at the rear of the hospital on the first floor of Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute.

Appointments are required, and can be arranged by calling (786) 596-3673 or emailing InesNis@baptisthealth.net.

Baptist Children's Hospital is located at 8900 North Kendall Drive in Miami.
