Bat-Wielding Suspect Hit by SUV in Hialeah Gas Station Melee

Brothers Adonis and Michael Canales were arrested in the incident, police said

New footage showing a wild fight at a Hialeah gas station that ended with an SUV hitting a man who was arrested along with his brother was released on Friday.

The incident happened April 28 at a gas station at 2795 West 79th Street when the victim got into an argument with the 20-year-old brothers, Adonis and Michael Canales, according to arrest reports.

At one point, Adonis Canales went to the trunk of his friend's car and grabbed a tire iron, while Michael Canales grabbed a baseball bat, the reports said. The brothers approached the victim, who was in his Dodge Durango and trying to leave the scene, and Michael Canales hit the SUV with the bat, the reports said.

The victim then drove forward and Michael Canales smashed the Durango's passenger side window with the bat before he was hit by the SUV. Surveillance footage released Friday showed Michael Canales rolling over the hood of the car and onto the ground as the victim left the scene.

As the victim left, Adonis Canales threw the tire iron at the SUV, the reports said.

The brothers were arrested on May 1 on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges. Attorney information wasn't available.
