Cop Fired for Peanut Butter Dog-Licking Prank

Hidden camera finally uncovered the dog-licking scandal

Pranks are occupational hazards for most police officers, but when a dog and peanut butter become involved, that's when heads have to roll.

A Fort Lauderdale detective has been fired and three other police officers suspended for their roles in a disgusting prank that would seem more appropriate for the makers of Jackass than the boys in blue.

Crime Scene Investigator Stacy Jenkins has been fired for allowing her pet dog to eat out of a peanut butter jar that was used by other cops, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

The prank, which happened last February, targeted people on the day shift who Jenkins believed talked bad about her and her friends.

Jenkins also reportedly let her dog pee on a detective's desk.

It was only after another detective hid a video camera and secretly recorded conversations between Jenkins and her friends that the contaminated peanut butter come to light.

Other officers ate from the dog-licked peanut butter for weeks without knowing, an internal investigation revealed.

Sgt. Kimberly Hancock, Det. Kerri Hagerty and Public Safety Aide Julia Horn were also suspended without pay.

When the dog-licking scandal first surfaced, officials said there might be some criminal charges, but so far none have been filed.
