Crook Tries Selling Stolen Jewelry to Store Manager He Ripped Off

Boutique manager recognizes jewelry stolen from home

An unlucky Collier County crook who stole jewelry from a woman's home didn't return to the scene of the crime, but he may as well have.

Nathaniel Coleman, 33, was arrested Monday after he tried to sell the jewelry to the boutique managed by the woman he'd just robbed, according to Naplesnews.com.

Police said the manager of Marilyn's Boutique in Immokalee was approached by Coleman with several items of jewelry he was looking to sell, police said.

As the woman inspected the jewelry, she started to recognize the items as her own. The manager called her husband, who called deputies.

The deputies took Coleman into custody and accompanied the manager and her husband to their home, where they found the back door forced open and the inside of the home ransacked, police said.

Coleman was charged with grand theft, dealing in stolen property and defrauding a pawnbroker. He was released Tuesday after posting $10,000 bond, according to court records.
