Drag Queen Drop and Dachshund Walk Part of New Year's in Key West

A Dachshund walk and drag queen drop will once again be part of the New Year's Eve celebrations in Key West this year.

The 10th annual Dachshund walk will start at noon Wednesday and features about 200 dogs dressed in costumes.

As the clock strikes midnight, female impersonator Sushi will be dropped in a super-sized red heel on Duval Street. Sushi, AKA Gary Marion, has been a part of the tradition for nearly 20 years.

Other Key West drops include a pirate wench from the top of a ship mast and a giant man-made conch, the symbol of the Florida Keys, onto the roof of Sloppy Joe's Bar.
