Officials in one Florida county are sharing disturbing story on the dangers of using human hair dye on pets.

Pinellas County Animal Services published several photos on their Facebook page showing Violet, a pup currently recovering after receiving extensive burns on her body.

When brought to the group, employees gave her fluids, pain meds and gently washed as much of the chemical dye off as they could before bandaging her up. Eventually, officials decided to shave off her fur and discovered that her skin was falling off as well as a result of the incident.

Three months after the incident, veterinarians say Violet is making a miraculous recovery amid concerns about possible blindness or infection.
