A central Florida woman is accused of stealing about $120,000 from her aunt.

Authorities in Deltona say 65-year-old Kathy Laderman used the money to furnish her aunt's house, which she anticipated inheriting from 96-year-old Betty Gercken. Laderman was arrested Monday on charges of exploitation of the elderly.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports that Gercken contacted police in January to report that her niece was taking her money. She had obtained bank statements from a checking account she didn't know she had. The money had been deposited from the company that managed investment stocks Gercken had inherited from her sister.

Police say Laderman told them she used the money to care for her aunt, and to buy things for her family.

Records did not indicate whether Laderman has an attorney.
