Interstate 595 will be closed for 24 hours at University Drive beginning Saturday night as part of the I-595 Express Corridor Improvements Project.

Other closed roadways include northbound and southbound University Drive at I-595, the ramp from southbound University Drive to eastbound I-595, sections of westbound State Road 84 and sections of State Road 7. Florida’s Turnpike and I-595 on-ramps will also be affected, the department said.
Construction crews are scheduled to raise the flyover ramp 18 inches to accommodate more lanes. The renovations are part of a project that began in 2010 and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2014.
The flyover ramp from southbound University Drive to eastbound I-595 will remain closed for 120 days as crews remove several hundred feet of the bridge.
Drivers are asked to proceed with caution and observe posted speed limit signs.
