The Fight Over Shark Fins in Florida
The shark population is being decimated by overfishing and a changing climate in the form of ocean acidification and habitat degradation
With the new Florida legislative session next in September, conservation groups are pushing for measures at both the state and federal level to ban one of the largest threats to the shark population – the fin trade.
“The U.S. is the seventh worst country in the world for killing sharks and Florida is the worst state in the nation,” West Palm Beach native Jim Abernethy said.

Miami Marlins Rally From 4-Run Deficit, Beat Atlanta Braves in Extra Innings
Martin Prado hit a sacrifice fly that scored Harold Ramirez in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Miami Marlins rallied for a 7-6 win over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night.
Playing in front of a season-high home crowd of 29,720, the Marlins erased a 6-2 deficit by scoring four in the bottom of the ninth.

Wolf-Dog Hybrid Captured After Escape From Florida Sanctuary
A wolf-dog hybrid that escaped from a Florida sanctuary after jumping a 10-foot fence has been captured.
News outlets report that something scared Eva at the Shy Wolf Sanctuary on Wednesday morning, prompting her to jump the fence.
