An Islamorada firefighter was arrested Sunday for attacking a man who he said was making unwanted advances toward his wife, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The firefighter, Lester Robert Young, allegedly hit the man in the face with a glass mason jar, officials said. The pair started fighting near Morada Bay Beach Café on 81600 Overseas Highway.
Deputies arrived on the scene to find the man on the ground with blood coming out of his mouth, cheeks, eyes and forehead, according to a news release. The injured man was transported to Ryder Trauma Center in Miami.
According to the news release, the man had been escorted out earlier for causing a disturbance. Young, of Key Largo, said the man was making unwanted advances toward his wife and groping her.
