The Miami-Dade Police Department said the apparent mother and father of a little girl found wandering alone in NW Miami-Dade on Tuesday claimed the child.
Miami-Dade Police Det. Lee Cowart said that officials will investigate why the child was left alone for several hours.
The Florida Department of Children and Families is working with police to investigate the case.
"There is a lot of investigation yet to be conducted. We need to find out if this is, in fact, the mother and the father, and how this incident occurred – how this young lady toddler was left alone for multiple hours," Cowart said. "Her well-being is paramount."
The girl was found at the Park View Condos, located at 17824 NW 59 Avenue in Miami-Dade.
"We're going to get to the bottom of how this occurred tonight, but the great news is we think that we have mom and dad here, and they'll be reunited with the daughter," Cowart added.
