Man Accused of Punching Hialeah Police Officers

A man accused of punching two Hialeah Police officers in the face wound up behind bars with a black eye.

Luis Velez, 44, is now facing three counts of battery on a police officer and resisting arrest after officers went to take him into custody for domestic aggravated assault, police said.

Velez was being held on $9,000 bond Monday, jail records showed. It's unknown if he's hired an attorney.

Police said officers went to arrest Velez after he allegedly threatened to kill someone. He punched tow officers in the face and kicked a third in the legs before one of the officers punched and elbowed him and used a Taser to control him, officials said.

Velez was taken to a hospital for his injuries before he was booked into jail.
