Miami's Paige McPherson Upset in Taekwondo Match in Rio

Miami's Paige McPherson was considered Team USA's best chance at a medal in Taekwondo in Rio but her Olympics ended in just six minutes Friday.

McPherson, a bronze medal winner in the 2012 Olympics, was in control and leading her opponent from Azerbaijan in the final minute but things unraveled quick and by the time the final bell sounded, she lost by one point.

It's a heartbreaking finish for the athlete known as "McFierce" But it was still special for McPherson, because her adoptive parents came all the way from South Dakota to support her. And two of her siblings came too, their first time ever traveling to a foreign country.

"I saw my brother and sister, my parents and my teammates. Without them I wouldn't be here in the 1st place so for them to continually support me, it's great, it's a good feeling," McPherson said after the loss. "Although I didn't win the gold, I know that they'll always be behind me regardless."
