No Injuries After Sinkhole Opens at Condo Complex

Officials in central Florida are monitoring a 10-foot-wide sinkhole that opened up at a condominium complex over the weekend.

The Orlando Sentinel reports than the sinkhole opened Sunday afternoon along the foundation in the Oasis and Pearl Lake complex.

Building officials in Altamonte Springs say nothing has fallen into the hole, and no structural damage is apparent. The condos closest to the sinkhole have been evacuated as a precaution.

Altamonte deputy building official Tom Dalton said they are waiting to hear back from a geotechnical engineer before allowing residents to re-enter their homes.

Police and fire officials continue to monitor the size of the hole.
