A violent motorcycle accident killed one person and injured two others on Interstate 95 early Sunday morning.
The accident happened just after 4 a.m. on I-95 southbound, between Miami Gardens Drive and Ives Dairy Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 24-year-old Christian Salazar and 21-year-old Miriam Perez-Duarte were riding their motorcycles side-by-side when they collided into each other. Both drivers were thrown from their motorcycles.
That's when the driver of a Toyota Corolla attempted to stop, but crashed into debris and ran over Salazar's leg. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Perez-Duarte was rushed to Aventura Trauma Center in serious condition.
The accident shut down all lanes of the highway for several hours before re-opening around 8 a.m.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
