Miami’s popular Haulover Beach may soon have new competition – when it comes to nude beaches.
The Palm Beach County Freedom Beach Initiative penned a letter to commissioners asking them to designate a clothing-optional beach at one of the county’s public beaches.
“We have identified the county-owned seven acre Gulfstream Park as the best beach for this purpose and are open to other ideas as well,” Karl Dickey stated in the letter.
The letter cites that if Palm Beach residents want to enjoy a nude beach, they would have to drive an hour south to Haulover Beach or an hour north to Fort Pierce.
Dickey claims that a nude beach in the county would not only attract more tourists, but also more money.
The proposal is now being reviewed by the county’s Tourist Development Council, according to the group.
