President Obama Discusses Immigration in Miami

President Barack Obama was in Miami Wednesday for an immigration town hall meeting on the Modesto A. Maidique Campus of Florida International University. The town hall is organized by MSNBC and Telemundo and is hosted by anchor Jose Diaz Balart.

Air Force One landed at Miami International Airport at 2:45 p.m. where he was met by Florida Gov. Rick Scott and Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez. Obama is expected to depart at 5:04 p.m., just at the start of evening rush hour.

No specific road closures have been announced, but Florida Highway Patrol says motorists can expect heavy traffic delays on the Dolphin Expressway between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., and again from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In an email to members of the university community, FIU advises that parking and traffic patterns on the campus will be altered to accommodate security associated with the presidential visit. The campus will host a community viewing room located at GC 140 and seating will be on a first come, first served basis.

The program is expected to begin by 3 p.m., and will air Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. on Telemundo and at 8 p.m. on MSNBC.
