Preview: Duke Blue Devils at Miami Hurricanes

The Hurricanes will host the Duke Blue Devils on Monday night at BankUnited Center

The 15th-ranked Miami Hurricanes will take on the 20th-ranked Duke Blue Devils in a marquee match-up on Monday night.

The Hurricanes are coming off two wins in a row following a pair of losses. That quick skid was the first of the season for Miami. In what has been an exciting and successful campaign, the Hurricanes have an opportunity to make a statement over perennial powerhouse Duke.

While Duke's 15-5 record may show signs of failure, it is important to note that the school lost three games in a row. Outside of that stretch, Duke is an impressive 15-2. However, there is a troubling note for the Blue Devils as all three losses during that skid came against unranked teams.

Conference wise, the two schools are almost even. Miami holds a 4-3 record in the ACC, while Duke is 4-3. Both teams are coming off victories which should the stage for a highly competitive game in Coral Gables.

In Saturday's win over Wake Forest, Miami was led by the scoring of Ja'Quan Newton who contributed 18 big points off the bench. The Hurricanes also finished strong with a 12-point advantage in the second half. Solid play from start to finish will be crucial against the Blue Devils and their legendary coach, Mike Krzyzewski. Duke usually play smart fundamental basketball, and can find ways to win even if it lacks the talent on any given day.

After this game, Miami will travel to NC State which just happens to be the last school that Duke beat. The Hurricanes also have games upcoming with Notre Dame, George Tech and Pittsburgh. UM is looking to continue its solid season and bring momentum into the final stretch of the schedule.

Monday night's game against Duke will start at 7:00 p.m. and will be nationally televised on ESPN.
