Sunrise Police said that fireworks caused a shooting scare Sunday evening at Sawgrass Mills mall, leading to the mall being placed on lockdown.
According to police, fireworks were set off inside the mall, sending shoppers into a panic. Sunrise Police placed the mall on lockdown and treated the scene as an active shooter situation out of an abundance of caution.
Shoppers at the mall posted to social media that they were on lockdown in several stores.
