Coast Guard officials have rescued two boaters and are searching for a third after their boat capsized off the coast of Cedar Key.
Officials said they received a report stating the three men had left Alachua at 5:30 a.m. Friday on a 23-foot boat and never returned. Authorities launched a helicopter and utility boat search and found Garrick Valdes, 50, from Locust Grove, Virginia, and Bruce Smith from Alachua on Saturday morning. Their conditions were not known.
They are still searching for 54-year-old Elders Bird of Maryland who was reported to be wearing a life jacket.
