Brownsville Middle School and Earlington Heights Elementary School, both in northwest Miami-Dade, were placed on lockdown Wednesday morning as police responded to calls of shots fired in the area, police say.
According to Miami-Dade Police, they received a call about shots fired in the area of Northwest 23rd Avenue and 50th Street in northwest Miami-Dade.
There are several evidence markets on the ground, which are bullet casings.
The two nearby schools were placed on lockdown as police investigated. That lockdown has since been lifted.
