Suspected Car Burglar Evades SWAT After Hiding in Attic of Cooper City Home: BSO

Authorities said two suspected car burglars were taken into custody but a third was still being sought after he allegedly barricaded himself in the attic of a Cooper City home Wednesday.

Broward Sheriff's Office officials said the incident began when they received calls around 5 a.m. about possible car burglaries in the area of Hiatus Road and Stirling Road.

A responding deputy spotted a possible suspect, shined a light on him, and the person fled into a home, officials said. The family was evacuated from the home without injuries.

The SWAT team responded and was working to get the suspect out of the home as the street was blocked off. Two other suspects were taken into custody in the area, officials said.

After several hours at the home, the suspect wasn't found. No other information was immediately known.
